Six police officers detained for allegedly beating a Catholic priest are further remanded

 Six police officers have been placed under extended remand until January 29, 2026, after they were detained for allegedly assaulting a Catholic priest in Gampaha.

 After appearing before the Gampaha Magistrate's Court today, the group of officers was placed on remand (26). Additionally, on January 29, 2026, the magistrate has ordered an identification parade.
